What is a citation that police officers would issue?

Like, if you were to do something bad, a police officer would issue you a citation. What is that? And what happens if you get one?

1. Well, ill put it like this....The police can pull u over for pretty much anything, and u hav bike cops. U also have the shitty officers who abuse their powers and will find anything to write u a tix for. A citation is a violation a person has comitted and will be given a slip required to go to court, or to jus pay a rediculous fine. Depending on the citation if u try to not pay it or not show up for court and u r required to a warrant can be issued for ur arrest. So, basically if u r wrong in doing something and u no it, and a cop approaches u, its best to be VERY cooperative and truthful. getting mad, or cursing out the officer, its NOT the best option and that gives them a betta reason to arrest u. So kiss ass wen it comes to them, and never get in there way.
