What happens if an officer writes the wrong citation number on my red-light ticket?

I received a red light ticket and they can't find the citation on record but I received the ticket and a notice in the mail. I just want to pay it and get it over with.

1. They should be able to look it up by name or even by your license plate number. Our computers for my state have multiple ways to look up the citation.
